There are two main steps to perform: (1) install K2 KeyServer on the server Mac and (2) install K2 Client on each client Mac. Note: every client will need to be activated with the license details.

None of the menu items in the Analyze menu are functional. This also means that toolbar buttons in individual windows or on the Analyses Toolbar are also disabled. So while you can open saved MSA documents or Align To Reference documents and edit them, you cannot (re)run the actual algorithms. This is the primary limitation in MacVector Free.

DrawBerry won’t wow you with its Illustrator-beating features or extensive help documentation, but after downloading it just to see if it still works on the latest version of macOS, it still may be worth a punt. The app is very lightweight (at only 3.8MB to download), and though it lacks features and hasn’t had an update since the days of OS X 10.5 — it still works!
The trial version includes the Assembler module that lets you run de novo assemblies of both traditional Sanger ("ABI") sequences and fastq/fasta formatted Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data using either the phrap, Velvet or SPAdes assembly algorithms. You can also run NGS reference alignments using the popular Bowtie algorithm.
The original question seems to be concerning an alignment editor for manual manipulations of alignments (like BioEdit but for OSX). of these answers are automated multiple alignment programs...(some of which have editing capacity). I wonder if anyone has a recommendation for an open source alignment editor for OSX that allows one to manipulate the multiple alignment manually, add 'masks' for exporting alignments with variable regions removed...
